Layers are the basis for image editing. Gorgeous image compositions are created by combining several pictures into one final image. You can think of layers as stacked transparent plastic sheets. You can use layers for a wide variety of different tasks in image editing, but a few of the more popular ones are adding text and shapes , copying parts of one image to another, and creating posters or collages.
A new image in Pixelmator Pro contains one layer — either the image you opened, or an empty layer if you chose to create a graphic from scratch. To create new layers, you can add photos or other pictures as layers, create layers from selections, add shapes or text. I'll give it a go. Pixelmator Pro has a pattern effect that will fill any layer with a pattern. It will fill every pixel that is not transparent on the layer with the pattern. So step 1 is to get the create a new layer that contains the pixels we want.
Skip this if the pants already have their own layer. Using the Select Colour tool or the Quick selection tool your preference , select the area that you want to add the pattern to. If you use the Photos app or any other extension to edit and save changes to an image that has an associated Pixelmator Pro file, the layered file will no longer be opened in the extension.
However, it will be preserved in iCloud or the Pictures folder until you choose to delete it. Then open it in the Pixelmator Pro extension and press the Command — o keyboard shortcut to bring up the Replace dialog.

Stroke Fill: Click the Fill pop-up menu below the Stroke Style pop-up menu and choose either a Color stroke for a solid color outline or Gradient to fill the outline with a transition between multiple colors.
